The Ponseti Method in South Africa

When our family went to Iowa City for treatment by Dr Ponseti in April 2003, there were no Ponseti trained South African doctors.

Established in July 2005, STEPS South Africa has made a commitment to promote the Ponseti method to benefit all Southern African babies born with congenital clubfoot.

SOUTH AFRICAN PONSETI SEMINARS

STEPS South Africa organised and hosted the 1st Ponseti Seminar in South Africa on 27&28 July 2006. 56 Delegates, mostly Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons (some from neighbouring country Lesotho) came to learn the method. 98% said they would change their practice after attending the seminar. As they provide case studies to the University of Iowa's clubfoot clinic for evaluation, they will be added to the Ponseti International Association website list of qualified doctors, and also to this website.
